Actually, in economic theory, value is how much a given individual is willing to pay for a good or service (what Terikel said), and the difference between that and market price is consumer surplus. Punic is the far left end of the demand curve.

Interesting...
Anyway- Finished my cataloging of my Non- Fiction books, and the total comes to *Drum roll please*
194 non-fiction History books. I can post the list online for observation, or somehow share the document( no idea how) but that's only if someone wants to see it (I promise no bragging here- I bet many people here have larger collections).

A list would be interesting.
If I may paraphrase Douglas Adams, I'm afraid to make a list of my books for fear that it would be large enough to collapse in on itself and form a black hole.
It'd take more than a lifetime to read them all. Fortunately I plan on living forever.

Ok- SO i finally finished 1914 by Paul Ham and it was fantastic. Excellently researched, in a style that is complex yet easy to read and follow, this is definitely a recommendation if anyone out there has the opportunity to get their hands on it- DO IT!
Moving on to Military Innovation in the Interwar Period by Williamson Murray and Allan Millett. It promises to be very interesting

I've been helping out with clearing my grandmother's house, and I think I've worked out that book collecting is hereditary on my mother's side of the family.
It turns out there is such a thing as too many books.
So far I've found quite literally thousands, including ones in boxes stacked on top of each other in wardrobes. The vast majority are unfortunately (or, come to think of it, fortunately) of little interest, though I have taken about two boxes. I did find a first edition (1906) of Upton Sinclair's The Jungle and a sadly deteriorated 1887 book of H. Rider Haggard.

I wouldn't say there is such a thing as too many books, just that there is too small a room to hold such volumes of said books.
Awesome might agree with me on this

Quick question: anyone else read the Rangers Apprentice books? Although they are teen fiction(I started reading them when I was about 14) I still find them one of my favorite books.

I read most of them (I think they came out with a few new ones lately) a while back, and found them to be quite decent. However, the whole 'I'm pretty much just copying the world because I don't want to make up my own one' annoys me a little. I mean, if you're going to have Romans who form testudo, just call them that and get it over with.

That's what I always used to think. Maybe it's because I came across so many doubles, and even a few triples, of the same books.
(That said, on a couple of occasions I've also accidentally bought books that I already have. I plead mitigating circumstances)

True that, but i suppose if you have a make-believe-kind-of-England you cant really have a historical Roman empire.

I accidentally bought a book i already had, which motivated me to write up my library. I bought some more books the other day(for those of you not friends with me on Facebook):
Which brings my total to 206. I have a problem, but it feels sooooooo good....:|

Have you watched the show at all? In my opinion, it's probably better to watch it first if you're ever going to, otherwise it'll be too frustrating to watch afterwards.

This. The show follows the books basically word for word in the first season, and then starts to drift a little after that, though still staying very true to the story line. The books, however, are always going to be richer in that they can have inner monologue and observations.
I watched all of season 3 before I started reading the books, and I definitely think show then books is the way to go.
