Forumer Gallery Thread

Quick tutorial for those who don't know how to post a picture:
First you need a picture, ideally taken from a digital camera, but scanned images will still work.
Save them as jpegs (.jpg) or gifs (.gif).
Do not save them as bitmaps (.bmp), as this format uses about ten times the memory and makes the pages load slowly. Then you need to host the picture. Personally I use www.photobucket.com.
Then, you just need to post a link to the image.

Taking the example of an image on RTWH:

shows up as:

http://rtw.heavengames.com/forums/rtwh.gif
shows up as:
http://rtw.heavengames.com/forums/rtwh.gif

Picture.
shows up as:
Picture.

I have removed the pictures that Ace linked to that no longer exist. If you want your picture in the gallery (or to change the one that's already there, post it or link to it in the thread. If you want your picture removed, I can do that too.

NB - It is against Heavengames policy to allow anyone under the age of 14 to post personal pictures.

Archiving the old OP's contents here:
Keeping up with the trend we have got into lately of resurrecting dead threads, the logical next step is Ace's Gallery.

Ace Cataphract (He certainly goes to a rough school...)

Gadz13 (Hardcore Patriots fan!)

Kor (Holy Crap, he's turning into Donald Sutherland!)

Adder (His heavenly glow will light even the darkest room.)

Cheesewiz (The question is is it the same girl as in the photo in the first gallery?)

Johndisp (You have to be a real man to wear a kilt!)

Demonseed (When you get your picture taken next to Ermy, you know you're a helluva soldier!)

Ueriah (The only forummer dedicated enough to tattoo his HG name onto himself!)

Ichbinian (Please Sir, can I have some more?)

Glory of Sparta (Hail Athena!)

Shan (Did he join Crash Test Dummies without telling the rest of us?)

Mace Head (When Bart Simpson becomes a teenager...)

Kirkland (Don't bother beaming me up Scottie, I'll just levitate!)

Nausicaa (Like any good generaless, she's acompanied by her retinue.)

Blunderboy (Confirming his location.)

yakcamkir (Go on, take me seriously. I dare you!)

Desert Disciple (You know he's gonna pwn all the n00bs on the Terrorist team.)

KaiserWinterfeldt (Proof that demonic possession causes all hair to fall out unless you have scary eyebrows.)

bstoned (Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy laaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!)

CashMoney 420 (I don't know if he's been shot, but I know he's definitely splashed some cats with that gun.)

Lord Ahm (Trinity! Help! There's an Agent!)

Ecthelion (Now if you push one over, do they all go like dominoes?)

MaximusDecimus (No! Please don't headbutt me! I'm not carrying any heroin!)

Lentulas (No, I don't know which one he is either.)

Jax (I believe copious amounts of alcohol were involved...)

Primus Pilus (His chief weapon is Surprise, Fear and Surprise...)

Titanus (The orange glow is either a street light, lava or the camera melting.)

Tarquinius (He stares out of the window at the children who are free to play and thinks of his imprisonment...)

Meteora (He's just getting slashed in the back of the head.)

Lenardius VII (He's just read that George Bush is nuking Australia.)

misplacedgeneral (He's a little overdressed for school, isn't he?)

Seany Boi (The flash does little to hide the fact that his glasses are actually fused to his face.)

Xygr (Sheeps' eyeballs! It's a local specialty.)

Primo (News just in: An autopsy has beec carried out on Total War Heaven Forumer "Primo" who was found dead in his bedroom last week. The coroner concludes that he died of torpedo-related injuries. The Royal Navy has declined to comment.)

Ferret (Not quite Eric Clapton, but you know what they say about practice.)

TotalWarFanatic (Here seen sneaking to the fridge for a midnight snack.)

Andrew Dunn (It is well known that Scots can lift great weights attached to their scarves.)

mebertus (Drink! Girls! Feck!)

Undefeatable (He never understood why the Medieval Battle Reenactment Society wouldn't let him join in...)

Kromovaracian (Exorcist Simulator: Press the red button and your friend's head will spin to the right!)

FD2 (Trapped in a mirror universe.)

Dricus Frisii (That look in his eye suggests that he is satisfied with the five thousand barbarians he killed today. There is a possible hint of madness too.)

Jarrod Nelson (He's a Linkophiliac?!? Ewww!)

scipio_africanus (You shall go to the ball!)

He113ent (His impression range is impressive - from Hitler to Bono...)

D Furius Venator (If Hannibal can do it with elephants, I can do it with white mice... oh damn, where have they gone?)

Gaius Colinius (The name's Col. Gaius Col.)

Dio (I'm fairly sure he does live in the 1950s.)

Yuri Andropov (The three ninja assassins in the background disagree.)

MEGAS_ALEXANDROS (I call upon you, oh mighty Zeus to lead us to the remains of your great statue, so that it might be reforged.)

Franey_Rules (If it can support a picture frame, that's some really strong hair gel.)

exe1 (Is it really Neo in disguise?)

Santos I (Those bear traps can be really annoying, but at least he can see the funny side. For now...)

Andariel (That momentary disctraction was all the assassin needed...)

EnemyofJupitor (It's a concept movie for the assassin in Rome 2: Total War)

Carthage (For once, the red mist descends in a civilised manner.)

Lasha (A couple of fake scars and he'll be the perfect Bond Villain's henchman.)

eltrevo (Me big! Me heavy! Me stamp and earth shake!)

TheKid951 (Who, me?)

luceasmaximuse (Only Stalin went to more effort to remove people from photographs.)

Welsh (This is the reason the Nazis didn't use a traditional salute.)

Xyphos_Lee and Xyphos_Pet {L-R, I think} (Who's dropped one then?)

NRSoleMI (Oh no, he's a zombie! Quick, get a cricket bat!)

Hnossa (When I think of a decent caption that doesn't make me look like a pervert, I'll get back to you.)

Flaming Warhawk (Here's a Taylor, there's a Taylor and another little Taylor, fuzzy Taylor, funny Taylor, Taylor, Taylor, Hat!)

shadowarmy (When he was a stunt double in The Ring.)

KeAnTe (It looks like a Hercules-Atlas type prank to me.)

BeerMatt (After trepanning, the brains can be sucked out, thus.)

Absigail to Abbyab {plus Jax} (Alky Pone?)

Count Mummolus (Curse you for being entirely undistinctive!)

Smeagolfan24 (The wave is protecting his modesty - his trunks have fallen off!)

DomunicusUltimus (Disguising oneself as a family group is a good deterrent against assassins.)

bloodswan (He looks strangely like Wolf from the original series of Gladiators...)

Arkhane (Take a step back. And another one. Just one more...)

Imperial Justice (Holy crap! He's fifteen feet tall!)

Epic Commander (Confronted by the Devil.)

Catabre (Look, he's got one of those magic eye pictures on his glasses...)

hannibalbarc (Not quite Top Gun, but at least Medium-altitude Arquebus.)

Foamy (Be nice to him, he's just lost a sixteen-year-old seven star general.)

General_Zavier (Yes, I know you can see me.

Vault Dweller (I just get the feeling that he's looking at something he's not allowed to post on the forums...)

Baske (His left breast is so pronounced that it causes wrinkles in his shirt...)

Most captions shamelessly copied directly over from Ace's thread.

Let it be some consolation that most cannons you still see in cities today were actually made in the 19th century, for touristic/atmospheric reasons, and were not really made for combat. However, yeah, it is a pity that some eejits think it necessary to resort to this kind of vandalism.
Kor, loving the beard!

On the other hand, historians would pee their pants to discover ancient acts of vandalism on otherwise dull historical artifacts.

Indeed they did. As on many ancient building sites.
Let it be some consolation that most cannons you still see in cities today were actually made in the 19th century, for touristic/atmospheric reasons, and were not really made for combat.
Even so, they're still a couple of hundred years old.
On the other hand, historians would pee their pants to discover ancient acts of vandalism on otherwise dull historical artifacts.
Well that's different...
The graffiti is often a lot more enlightening than the modern version. You get the odd 'Cleitos loves Helena' or 'Up the Greens!' but you also see poetry, political comment, messages, etc. It gives a flavour of life at the time, not an illegible moniker. It also tends to be written on things that were common as muck in that time, as opposed to already old relics.
