Thanks very much Daelon! You're really helpful.
So I won't be able to play the game in high (and perhaps not medium) due to my card); but I'm happy that I will be able to play it anyways!

That's the idea! Maybe the game dev's will have build the game for more lower-end pc "friendly". I have noticed over the years that the patches can increase performance for a lot of lower grade pc's, as well as faster rigs. Hopefully you won't have any problems.

Because if you read the minimum specs, I believe they are 1 gig at minimum. You'll be running a VERY choppy game. what kind of graphics card do you have?

Go to start> Run> type in "DxDiag"
Save that information into a notepad, then cut&paste all of it and post it here.

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
This is for my laptop, which means I won't really be able to upgrade anything. Do you think I can get by with the video card?

7600GS + 1 gig of ram = Very laggy/choppy
The 7600GS's vram won't be suffice either, I highly suggest you upgrade both the graphics card and ram.
I suggest the 9 series from Nvidia. On newegg the 9800GT's are VERY cheap right now and they are excellent cards for the price. Also regarding the ram, it sounds like you are on a pre-built pc, so the RAM you have now is probably generic. So upgrading the ram will just be the tricky part. (trying to find out what RAM will work with your pc.)
To start off, do you know what kind of motherboard you have? (Make/model)

Probably just a solid medium settings, the GPU could be upgraded.

Dual core, and you will need more ram. Another gig will be suffice.

Is the difference between DDR2 and DDR3 RAM important to the performance of this game?

Yes, typically in the Total War set of games, you'll be able to load much faster when you play in larger games. And in ETW, I HIGHLY recommend it.
I am hoping to play 20,000+ men battles with my current setup. Wish me luck.

The 7900GS would be an entry level gpu for the medium-lower graphic settings. It has relatively fast clock speeds for the 7 series, it can do the job with graphics toned down.

Stormer, with your graphics chipset, you will not be able to play ETW at all. Typically when buying new ram, anything from Mushkin, Corsair or Patriot memory is good. DDR2, 800Mhz is standard.

Depends where you buy from. A good/decent GPU can cost anywhere from 75 to 150 that will allow you to play ETW on medium/high settings.

Ram is sufficient, the GPU & CPU will do, but don't expect anything more than medium settings probably.

I am having a hard time understanding you, I'm guess english isn't your native tongue :P
RTW & MTW2's graphic engines are somewhat similar. Chances are, running high settings in RTW, you will be able to run medium/high settings in MTW2.
