hmm,, thats weird, they look a lot smaller..

also, the ports for the card inside the case are horizontal, and the case is 17" that way,

wouldnt that be able to fit the card?

darnit i want a good card

It depends on a number of things. Most importantly it depends on the whether or not your current motherboard has the capable expansion slot for the GPU.

Secondly does your PSU have enough watts to power it

Third, does your case have enough room to fit the card in

Fourth, can you CPU keep up with the GPU's needful clocks.

Daelon's four points are right, but I don't think the CPU would be much of a bottleneck in games like ETW. If it does, that probably means your CPU sucks big time.

Also, as long as your casing is an average mid-sized ATX case, the 9800GT that you pictured should fit. The 9800GTX, however, is indeed longer and may not go in at all. Anyway don't bother with the 9800GTX, it's not really necessary to play ETW. It was designed to be nVidia's flagship model in the entire 9 series, but now there's a new generation of cards.

The 9800GT will serve the average gamer's needs just fine. Or get the the newer generation 260 cards. Also consider getting the ATi alternative (4870's good).

Of course, you will need to consider Daelon's second point about your power supply. If it's not powerful enough, please don't go and buy a high-end graphics card that can't be supported. A PSU failure will only cause further damage to other hardware components, so you'll be burning a huge hole in your pocket. Or perhaps you'll have an excuse to get a whole new system altogether.

I have a problem with the game, it will load up to the main menu, but as soon as the loading screen comes up for anything from the main menu onward, it will jam and the game will play in the background with it stuck on the loading screen.

my computer specs are:

Processor: Intel(R)Pentium(R)4 CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1024 MB
DirectX version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

Graphics card: RADEON X600 Series
Chip type: RADEON X600 (0x5B62)
DAC Type: Internal DAC (400MHz)
Approx total memory: 256.0 MB
Current display mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (75Hz)

I'm not very good with computers, so any help would be appreciated, i think it could be the graphics card, or the RAM, or both, does anyone know? thanks

That big orange thing is a PCI x16 expansion slot, a card from the 9 series won't fit in your pc case. The amount of watts your PSU has is labeled on the PSU itself.

Hi just joined the site.

Have been greatly looking forward to the arrival of ETW but have not had much luck with playing it since buying the Special Forces Addition on PC DVD on the day of release.

I've had the nightmare many others seem to have had with actually getting the game to install via Steam...."servers not available" etc.

The game finally installed with the update today but when it launched, though the cursor icon turned to a gold pointer and I could hear what appeared to be the sound of the "intro film", my screen was completely black.

I am wondering whether it might be that my pc spec is just not up to scratch or if not, what else might be the problem? Any suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated.

My Pc:

Microsoft XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Intel (R) Pentium R4 CPU 3.00 GHZ
3.00GHZ 1.00GB of RAM
Radeon 9250 Graphics Card

MTW2 runs just fine.

Many thanks and sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread before.

Hello Simonito, welcome to HeavenGames!

It looks like your PC is under the minimum specs by quite a margin. Your GPU and RAM is not enough to have the game run unfortunately. In order to play ETW, you will need to upgrade both the graphics card and RAM.

The game arrived in the post today, and runs much better than the demo. My specs are Pentium 4 2.93ghz single-core, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA Geforce 7900GS 512MB, and it runs okay on high-settings with medium-size on the naval-battles and sometimes in smaller land-battles, but can get sluggish when the screen gets very crowded. The campaign-map runs okay, but the game has just crashed. Now all games crash every now and then, but I hope this isn't a harbinger. Still intend to upgrade but am somewhat encouraged but this that I may not need to spend as much doing so.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz

3070MB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

Not sure what other information you might need. But my real question is what I would need to have in order to play on the highest graphic settings.

I can play the game fine, but the graphics will only go up to medium and the sound is kinda glitchy sometimes.

Thanks!

Could I run Empire on my PC? I'm debating wether to:

a) upgrade my PC to 2 RAM and a 512 MB GPU and hopefully be able to play Empire with huge unit size but medium graphics

b) get a new PC because it's been 6 years

c) attempt running Empire with Fusion or Parallels on my Macbook

Here's the Mac specs:

2.4 Core 2 Duo
2 DDR2 SDRAM
GeForce 8600m GT

How can I purchase ETW if I am in the Marine Corps and stationed overseas? I asked Steam this question they said it is "was not there problem", but they also said "we many other games that are available to you over seas". That was not a very concerned and or professional answer. It has three days now since I have E-mailed this same questioned to Creative Assembly and still no reply. Anyone know of a different way to get in contact with them to try and get this issue resolved for myself and thirty fellow Marines Stationed here in Japan? Keep in mind we are here for atleast two-Three years. By the time we get state side the servers will be dead or atleast not as active as they will be for the first 6 months of the release. They have to make exceptions for us right.
If not our plan is buy the boxed version attempt to install on our PC's. Then return the open product to the store the next or same day to get an exchange. The PX (military on base shopping mall) will do an exchange because we not in the states to be able to have contact with the suppliers or makers of the game. Any way we repeat this over and over again until CA/SEGA notice a huge loss of sales and a huge repayment of money to AAFES PX (military on base shopping mall). As well as a huge surpluss of returned games that can be put back on the market because the they have been returned as defective. We think this plan is genious. imagine 30 boxed games* $49.99US*7 days a week. One month alone they would lose 42,000.00 per month that is if we only do this exchange once a day. The plan is to do this at least two times per day. We do not want to do this, but if will get CA's attention on this matter we will do it. We have have nothing better to do on our off duty hours on this tiny Island that holds 14,000 members of the Armed forces that 80% of which plays PC games to pass the time.

I am leaning toward upgrading my PC to it's max 2 gig ram memory and then getting a Geforce 9 series video card but don't to make those upgrades and then find it's not good enough to play with medium/low graphics and the biggest unit size settings.

There are loads of people who have issues with the ingame videos, myself included. It's something that needs to be patched in the future, not really anything to do with your computer.

I don't know about the processor you've got Danik - P4s like that always were a bit odd - but otherwise if you were to upgrade the ram and graphics card you'd probably be in a similar place to me.
With an AMD 64 3800+ x2 (or however it's written) that runs at around 2Ghz (stock speed), 2 Gb RAM (slow DDR stuff, not fancy DDR2 etc) and an ATI/AMD 4670 with 512mb RAM (so, a mid-range, but new, graphics card) the game runs smoothly on high graphics settings with large units
Given that upgrading the RAM and graphics card shouldn't be more than £100ish (maybe more if you go for a properly good graphics card) then I'd go with that way rather than a new computer - although obviously the new computer would stay good longer.

A Titan Goliath from Overclockers.co.uk. I used the customisable options to choose the 1024MB Radeon 4870 card.

Okay, I'm upgrading this week. (hoping to get the new PC Friday, ordered from NewEgg today) I've been needing to upgrade for a while, just finally got around to saving up and doing it.

Old PC (bought 2005)
AMD Athlon 64
1 GB of RAM
200GB Hard Drive
ATI X800XL 256mb
290 watt PSU
Windows XP Home 3rd Edition

New PC (bought today from NewEgg)
Intel Core i7 920
6 GB RAM
500GB Hard Drive
Nvidia 9800 GTX+ 512mb
Intel X58 Chipset
800 watt PSU
Has 2 X16 PCI Slots for expansion, also supports SLI and Crossfire.
Windows Vista Home Premium

It's made by CyberPower and it's probably the best value I could find for a PC like this.($1200) I'm little weary of it arriving ok, but I hear the case is easy to work with if anythings unplugged or not working properly.

Should run most anything I play easily or later at minimum for at least another 4-5 years.

ETW should be a breeze on this thing. I have already tried ETW on my current PC and it's very sticky and laggs something fierce. Looking forward to my new system!

I have been experienceing my game crashing during naval battles in the GC. This only happened like, four times, and only today and a few days ago. I want the graphics on the low, for best performance.

Mine
Vista
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 3070MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 10
Display Memory: 1400 MB

Comparing to the numbers on the box, it looks fine, I think. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
