Well since empire isnt out yet and we know a handfull of info on it I think we should have a discussion on what we want mod-wise.

I am thinking of a world war II mod if possible, maybe an entire mod to focus JUST on the american independance with the exploration of the western half of the US.

Yah the mods for empire should be great. I'm hoping for a Napoleonic or a Seven Years War mod. If anyone from CA reads this, could a tool that lets you create your own mods be included in the expansion?

It is not enough that I succeed, but my enemies must fail.

There are a few mods I'd like/expect to see. An 80-years war mod would be nice. A Napoleon mod is almost certain to appear unless there'll be an expansion dealing with that. There's a lot of people wanting to replay the 30-years war too so there's a good chance of a mod being made for that as well.

A Rome mod?

I feel the same way I did after playing Stronghold 2 for about 15 minutes, like it was my birthday and all my friends had wheeled a giant birthday cake into the room, and I was filled with hopes dreams and desires when suddenly out of the cake pops out not a beautiful buxom maid, but a cranky old hobo that just shanks me then takes $60 dollars out of my pocket and walks away saying "deal, with it".

When it does come out (Maybe a month(s) so people can get the game), why not celebrate it by having a "Community Mod", where anyone from experienced modders to newbies (Read: Want to learn how to mod) make a mod about a chosen war/era (chosen by vote).

Just an idea.

I don't think that will work at all. Mods are incredibly time and labour intensive and require a lot of dedication to ever be completed. That dedication comes from motivation and enthusiasm, and if you're working on something you're not enjoying (because it was democratically decided you should do something) those two aspects will probably be severely limited. You're better off modding on your own than modding with a group of disinterested and unmotivated people.

That's about as likely as the idea we had for an Asterix mod for RTW. We actually got into some 'serious' discussion of how it could be done, IIRC.

But a mod for that period is almost inevitable.

Mods that are sure to come out:
~ Napoleon
~ WWII (maybe w/o air support - unless you could do a radio team that "shoots" aerial bombardments)
~ 30 Years War
~ WWI (trenches might be hard)
~ American Civil War (My dad has a PhD in American History for the Civil War period, so I could help with one of these mods!)
~ British Empire
~ And I agree with whoever it was that suggested the extended American Independence one! The Americans could get money whenever they win a battle, from which they can recruit mercenary minutemen (impossible to see when there are less than 250 units together on the campaign map?). The British would either only be able to build units every other turn, or they would take longer to train in order to represent the transatlantic crossing.

I wonder if the concept is possible for someone to make a mod revolving around civil conflicts in Asia. Probably like the wars in French Indochina or even the Boxer Rebellion. However, considering the fact that one would have to pretty much create a whole new set of terrain, skins, units, etc. might be a problem.

Actually it was originally called just Heaven, but then God sold the naming rights to Microsoft, so.... -GoForGoldenJarls

Its been done before, and they can script dates for "revolting" units to appear too. From what I've seen from mods, the ones with the most interest in them are usually the ones that get completed.

Australia has had a pretty bloodless history. We became a federation through diplomacy and the British welcomed the idea.

I would like to have a fantasy Mod, where at the last minute, Western Australia pulled out of federation talks and then New South Wales and Victoria, afraid of the other gaining more power than the other, declare war on each other.

A civil war with multiple factions. NSW, Vic and WA start at war. Queensland, Tasmania and SA are neutral and the Northern Territory is up for grabs as no one really controls it. Obviously, there will be no Australian Capital Territory on the Map.

Each state could have international influences, ie the British reinforce NSW, the dutch, based in Indonesia, reinforce WA (most early discoverers of WA were dutch) and the Victorian pigs decide to ask France for assistance facing an imminent defeat from NSW. The Germans based in New Guinea could also help neighbouring Qld.

New Zealand, Norfolk Island and Pacific Islands could also be thrown on the Map.

Just an idea. Id give it a go if I knew how!!

Boxer Rebellion is a bit too late (1900-01). The Opium Wars (1839-42; 1856-60) or Taiping Rebellion (1850-64) would be more likely. It is not inconceivable that CA might make the former a campaign in the expansion though. The latter would take quite a bit more work.

I remember that! That was hilarious, especially the reactions to my "unit ideas".

I'd guess that the Napoleonic Wars would be included in an expansion, but it may be similar to Kingdoms and have several smaller campaigns rather than one big one.

Unitl 1901, Australia was a series of states that each had their own parliament and answered only to Britain.

Australia became a Federation in 1901 after all the states agreed. The process took nearly half a century and Western Australia really didnt want to lose its indepedence. NSW and Victoria were also sceptical of the idea as each thought the other would gain too much power in a Federal Government and they would be worse off. Neither state wanted the other to be the capital (Sydney or Melbourne)

The solution was to create a new state halfway between them for a capital city. So Canberra was built from scratch so not to boost anyones ego.

We didnt have an 'independence', Queen Elizabeth is essentially still our head of state.

We've had a boring history, thats why it would be fun to shake it up a bit.

There will never be a civil war in OZ, as Australians dont care nough about politics. If there was a civil war it would be because of a rift between Ruby League Supporters and Australian Rules supporters, or between Tooheys and VB drinkers, or between Holden and Ford drivers.

One on the Reformation period, which I see as a missing-link in the series. The new engine would be ideal for including the Spanish Armada too. I also think that the rise of star-shaped forts in this period makes it especially suitable for an ETW mod. In mods we trust.
