Line Infantry
Line Infantry are one of the most important units in Empire Total War. Line infantry are the backbone of European Armies in Empire Total War. The strategy to use line infantry is to form lines and fire on their targets with flintlock muskets. Historically line infantry didn’t aim but fired in the direction of the enemy formation because the accuracy of the Flintlocks was terrible and usually hit less than 50 percent of the time. But line infantry were not named so because they always fight in lines but because they form the line of battle. A trained soldier in the 18th century could fire about 3 shots a minute; the paper cartridge reduced this to 15 seconds in-between shots. Line infantry wore similar uniforms usually a colored coat, a Tri corn or other type of hat, Pants and boots. Most armies also issued bayonets to infantry units.
Line Infantry Abilities
Plug Bayonet-Keep in mind they can’t fire after you have activated this.
Ring Bayonet-Slows down reloading so soldiers don’t chop off their fingers but improves melee.
Socket Bayonet-Regular reload and Improves melee.
Square Formation-Units form a square to protect against cavalry and being flanked.
Fire by Rank-Greatly improves Line Infantry’s power by letting 3 lines fire.
Fire and advance- First line fires then second line marches in front of the first line and fires then 3rd line walks to the front fires etc.
